The Controller, Federal Fire Service, FCT Command, MS Anas, has assured FCT residents of the command’s preparedness to respond to any emergency during the Sallah celebration. Speaking during the regular post-festive station commanders’ briefing, Anas directed all station commanders to ensure that their men are fully on the ground to respond to any emergency in any part of the Federal Capital Territory. He also directed them to ensure that their fire trucks and other equipment were in the best condition during the celebration period. This was contained in a statement signed by SF Anyam Barnabas, Public Relations Officer, Federal Fire Service, FCT Command.
The Statement reads: “He made it very clear that the Service provides essential services and, therefore, does not go on holidays.
“The Controller used the opportunity to advise residents on the need to be safety-conscious during this season, noting that many fire-triggering activities occur during this period. He further called on FCT residents to ensure basic fire safety compliance, such as turning off electrical equipment when leaving the house, not leaving cooking unattended, and avoiding fireworks, among others.
“He encouraged residents to always have the phone number of the Federal Fire Service handy so they can call in case of fire or any other emergency.
“The Controller also used the opportunity to wish all Muslim faithful a happy Eid al-Fitr, congratulating them on the end of Ramadan,” it also added.
In case of emergency, call 08032003557.
