FG Reaffirms Commitment to Safe, Efficient Aviation Sector at First Quarter (Q1) Stakeholders’ Engagement

The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to building a safe, efficient, and globally competitive aviation industry, in line with the Presidential Priorities and Ministerial Deliverables for 2026. This was contained in a statement signed by Chindaya Ahmadu Audu Adamu, Director, Press, and Public Affairs.

The Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, CON, made this known on Friday, 10th April 2026, during the First Quarter Stakeholders’ Engagement on Presidential Priorities and Ministerial Deliverables, held at the Minister’s Conference Room in Abuja.

He said the engagement was designed to showcase achievements, share experiences, and gather feedback from stakeholders and citizens alike, serves as a strategic platform for reviewing progress, strengthening collaboration, and refining policies to enhance the aviation sector, boost the national economy, and improve passenger experience.

Keyamo emphasized that the aviation industry remains central to national economic development, job creation, and regional integration under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Highlighting the Ministry’s Five-Point Agenda, Keyamo outlined key priority areas which include: strict adherence to safety regulations and continuous improvement of Nigeria’s International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) rating; support for the growth and sustainability of local airlines in line with global best practices; revitalization of aviation infrastructure, including airports and air traffic management systems; human capacity development through targeted training programmes; and enhanced revenue generation through innovative initiatives and strategic partnerships.

Keyamo disclosed that measurable progress is already being recorded, particularly in strengthened collaboration with leading aircraft manufacturers on Aircraft Acquisition to support domestic airlines. He added that the Ministry has also established a clear strategic direction for all aviation agencies, aligned with national development objectives.

He reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to continuous monitoring of progress, optimal resource utilization, and sustained efforts to reinforce public confidence in Nigeria’s aviation system.

“Today’s engagement provides a valuable opportunity for alignment of efforts towards building a safe, efficient, and globally competitive aviation sector,” he stated, expressing optimism that the outcomes would translate into actionable strategies for sustained growth in 2026 and beyond.

In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Mahmoud Adam Kambari, FCNA, FICA, welcomed participants and underscored the importance of the quarterly hybrid stakeholders’ engagement as a platform for aviation agencies to present their achievements, challenges, and future plans. He noted that the initiative promotes transparency, accountability, and collaboration across the aviation ecosystem while wishing participants fruitful deliberations.

Presentations by aviation agencies highlighted notable achievements, including improvements in airport infrastructure, enhanced staff training programmes, strengthened safety and security systems, improved inter-agency collaboration, and advancements in Performance-Based Navigation (PBN). The agencies collectively reaffirmed their commitment to adhering to ICAO standards and global best practices in pursuit of a safer and more efficient aviation sector.

In his closing remarks, the Director, Human Resource Management, Mr. Ejike Osibe expressed appreciation to participants for their active engagement and contributions to the success of the programme.
