The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding humanitarian assistance to vulnerable Nigerians, as both organisations move to strengthen collaboration ahead of a new food distribution programme targeting thousands of households across five states.

The renewed commitment was made during a courtesy visit by a KSrelief delegation to the NEMA headquarters in Abuja, where discussions focused on enhancing ongoing humanitarian interventions and improving support for communities affected by disasters and economic hardship.

The Director-General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, commended KSrelief for its sustained contributions to humanitarian interventions across the country, noting that the partnership continues to complement the Federal Government’s efforts in addressing the needs of vulnerable populations.

According to her, the collaboration has played a significant role in providing relief to persons affected by disasters and other humanitarian challenges.

Speaking during the visit, KSrelief representative Majeed Alanazi said the engagement was aimed at strengthening coordination with NEMA ahead of the commencement of direct distribution of food baskets donated by the organisation to vulnerable households.

Alanazi expressed appreciation to NEMA for its longstanding support in facilitating humanitarian interventions and reiterated KSrelief’s commitment to improving the welfare of vulnerable communities across Nigeria.

The food basket distribution programme is expected to benefit households in Yobe State, Benue State, Kebbi State, Taraba State and Anambra State as part of efforts to alleviate hardship and strengthen humanitarian support for those in need.
