The Anambra State Police Command has provided financial support to facilitate urgent medical treatment of the 10-year-old boy who was allegedly subjected to severe abuse by his guardian in Isiowulu, Anambra State. This was contained in a statement signed by SP. Ikenga Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, Awka.
The statement reads: “The Command, through its Operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, Anambra State Command, while expressing concern after witnessing the severity of the child’s condition and pain, rendered support for his medical care and recovery. The gesture underscores the Command’s commitment to protecting vulnerable members of the society, especially children, and ensuring that victims of abuse receive the necessary care and support.
“The Command has intensified its investigation into the incident and is committed to ensuring that all individuals found culpable are brought to justice in accordance with the law. The Police remain steadfast in enforcing laws designed to protect children from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and all forms of violence.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, reassures residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to collaborating with relevant government agencies, child protection organizations, and community stakeholders to promote and safeguard the rights, safety, and welfare of children throughout the State.
“The Anambra State Police Command remains committed to promoting justice, compassion, and the protection of human rights in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, ” it also added.
