Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have forced terrorists to flee and abandon a motorcycle following a fierce encounter in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The troops, deployed for counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations in the state, were conducting a routine patrol on Monday, August 10, 2026, when they encountered the terrorists at a crossing point in Ruwan Lafiya, Kankara LGA.

According to military sources, the troops engaged the terrorists with heavy firepower, overwhelming them and forcing them to retreat in disarray.

During the encounter, the terrorists abandoned one Boxer motorcycle as they fled the area.

The recovered motorcycle has been taken into military custody, while troops have intensified patrols and surveillance in the area to prevent the terrorists from regrouping and to maintain security within the affected communities.

The latest operation underscores the sustained efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops to deny terrorists and bandits freedom of movement and disrupt their activities across the North-West.
