The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service has reaffirmed its commitment to collaboration with the Federal Fire Service (FFS) during a courtesy visit to the Controller General, Samuel Adeyemi Olumode, FCNA, ACTI, at the Service Headquarters, Area 10, Garki, Abuja. This was contained in a statement signed by DCF P.O. Abraham, LLB, BL, ANIPR, National PRO/Head, Corporate Services, Federal Fire Service, National Headquarters.
Leading the delegation, the Director of the FCT Fire Service, Engr. Zaccheaus Adebayo congratulated the Controller General on his recent appointment and pledged full support for his leadership vision. He emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between both agencies through enhanced training, capacity building, access to modern infrastructure, inter-agency support, and skill development opportunities for state officers.
In response, Controller General Olumode assured the delegation of the FCT Fire Service of his willingness to support and provide the necessary interventions to further strengthen the infrastructure and firefighting capacity of the FCT Fire Service. He further revealed that the Federal Fire Service is set to undergo transformative reforms, including the review of the Federal Fire Service Act by December 2025. He also disclosed that the Service will expand its mandate beyond firefighting to include broader rescue operations and emergency management services across the nation.
The Controller General commended the FCT Fire Service for the visit, stressing that stronger collaboration is key to advancing fire safety and emergency response in Nigeria. He assured that his office will continue to welcome joint initiatives aimed at safeguarding lives and property.
