The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc., has recorded significant achievements in its ongoing operations against vandals, economic saboteurs, and drug-related offenders within Abuja. This was contained in a statement signed by SP. Josephine Adeh, anipr, mipra, Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Police Command, Abuja.
According to the statement, in recent months, criminal elements have targeted critical public infrastructure, including internet cables, power lines, and drainage covers, causing disruption to electricity supply, internet services, and public safety in parts of the FCT and neighboring states.
The statement also reads: “In response, the FCT Police intensified intelligence-led operations, targeted patrols, and surveillance in identified hotspots including Mabushi, Maitama, and the Central Business District. These efforts resulted in the arrest of several suspects and the recovery of:
• 296 cut-to-size single-core armored underground power cables, valued at ₦31,140,000
• 171 drainage (manhole) covers
• 4 portable cable pullers
• 2 transformers
• 52 bags of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa
“Investigations are ongoing to apprehend receivers, buyers, and other collaborators involved in these criminal activities. The FCT Police Command reiterates that all perpetrators, including those who receive or trade stolen public assets, will be arrested and prosecuted according to the law.
“The Command calls on members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to assist law enforcement efforts, it also added.
