The Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Khalil Suleiman Halilu, has said the agency has undergone a deliberate transformation from a research-focused institution to a visible, innovation-driven national brand.
Speaking during the 2026 Orientation and Induction Programme for staff, the EVC noted that prior to 2023, NASENI possessed strong technical capacity but was not positioned as a brand. According to him, this resulted in low visibility, weak institutional identity, and limited public understanding of the agency’s national mandate.
He explained that upon assuming office, the management initiated a strategic repositioning of NASENI to enhance its relevance and public engagement.
“We moved from research to products, from being largely unknown to achieving national relevance, and from operating solely as an agency to becoming an innovation platform,” he said.
Halilu stated that the repositioning has enabled NASENI to drive technology localisation, boost industrial production, and create economic value, in line with efforts to transition Nigeria from a consumption-driven economy to one anchored on production and innovation.
He added that the orientation programme provided an opportunity to further align staff with NASENI’s renewed identity as a strategic national brand committed to advancing Nigeria’s industrialisation agenda.
