The NNPC Limited has warned the public against fraudulent claims, suggesting that it is selling scrap materials and equipment from its refineries.

In a public notice issued by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Andy Odeh, the company described the reports as false and misleading, stressing that no such sales have been authorised.

NNPC stated that it has not issued any request for bids, tenders, or expressions of interest for the disposal of scrap materials, refinery components, or any items from its facilities.

The company also raised concerns over the activities of individuals falsely posing as its representatives or agents, claiming to facilitate the sale of “scrap metals” and refinery equipment.

It cautioned that such individuals are not authorised and are attempting to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

The national oil firm urged individuals, corporate organisations, and industry stakeholders to disregard such claims and exercise caution when approached with such offers.

“For the avoidance of doubt, NNPC Limited is not conducting, nor has it authorised, any sale of scrap metals, equipment, or refinery components from any of its facilities,” the statement said.

NNPC emphasised that any legitimate disposal of assets would follow due process and be communicated through its official channels in line with regulatory requirements.

It also advised members of the public to report anyone making such fraudulent claims to law enforcement authorities.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the responsible management of Nigeria’s energy assets.
