The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has lauded the federal government’s decision to recruit 1000 forest guards, among other measures, in the first instance, towards rescuing the students and teachers kidnapped from two communities in Oyo state.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary Segun Ogedengbe, the group acknowledged the recent visit by a high-powered delegation led by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, to the communities as part of ongoing efforts to resolve the hostage situation.
“It is noted that in the aftermath of the terrorists’ attack on the students and teachers of the schools, which has attracted outrage across the country with street protests, President Bola Tinubu had approved several measures towards ensuring that the perpetrators are apprehended and the students and teachers are rescued safely to their families.

“Some of the measures include the immediate recruitment of 1000 forest guards in collaboration with the state government, consideration for a military outpost in the area and deployment of a specialised security unit to track and apprehend the terrorists.

“We believe that with the wide –ranging steps approved by President Tinubu, the President has shown empathy for the victims and demonstrated his administration’s commitment towards guaranteeing the safety of all citizens.

“We are convinced that while these measures are temporary, they will serve as a precursor for the eventual establishment of state police in the country.

“We also applaud the President’s position that no child should fall victim to kidnapping or be denied access to education as a result of kidnapping, and this shows his clear stance on the safety and well-being of all Nigerian children,” the statement added.

The group urged Nigerians to see security as a collective responsibility and support the President Tinubu administration’s efforts to tackle the menace headlong.
