The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, delivered the keynote address at the Digital Transformation Summit 2026, the flagship annual event of Galaxy Backbone Limited, held at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja. This was contained in a statement signed by Mrs. Eno Olotu, mnipr, Director, Press, and Public Relations.

The Summit, themed “Connecting Government for National Growth: Driving Digitalisation Across MDAs for a More Efficient and Connected Nigeria,” was formally declared open by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, CON.

The event brought together senior government officials, heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), development partners, technology experts, innovators, private sector stakeholders and public servants to discuss the role of digital transformation in advancing governance, improving service delivery and accelerating national development.

In her keynote address, Mrs. Walson-Jack underscored the critical role of digitalisation in building an efficient, productive, incorruptible, and citizen-centred public service. She noted that digital transformation has evolved from a desirable innovation into an indispensable requirement for effective governance, institutional efficiency, accountability, and sustainable national growth.

The HCSF highlighted the significant progress recorded in the digital transformation of the Federal Civil Service, describing the successful digitalisation of work processes across Ministries and Extra-Ministerial Departments as clear evidence that the Service can adapt, innovate and deliver results when reforms are driven by purposeful leadership, commitment and discipline.

Mrs. Walson-Jack emphasised that interoperability, responsible data sharing, and integrated digital platforms are essential for reducing duplication, improving planning, enhancing policy implementation, and delivering seamless services to citizens and businesses.

She reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Civil Service to supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, through innovation, digitalisation, performance management and institutional strengthening, noting that a digitally enabled and performance-driven Civil Service is critical to national development.

The HCSF commended Galaxy Backbone Limited for its strategic contributions to the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda through the provision of critical infrastructure, including the 1Government Cloud, GovMail, secure connectivity and other technology solutions that support efficient and coordinated governance. She disclosed that over 115,000 active GovMail accounts are currently in use across the Public Service, reinforcing secure, professional, and institutionally owned communication channels.

Mrs Walson-Jack highlighted the growing impact of Service-Wise GPT, the Federal Civil Service’s homegrown digital knowledge assistant, which has recorded over 50,000 engagements, providing public servants and other users with access to Public Service Rules, circulars and other government information.

The Summit featured high-level discussions on digital public infrastructure, interoperability, cybersecurity, innovation, and strategies for building a more connected, efficient, and responsive Government capable of driving sustainable national growth.
