The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening aviation safety by supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing cabin crew professionalism, promoting passenger awareness, and improving the overall travel experience.
The Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Capt. Chris Najomo made the commitment on Tuesday while receiving officials of the NIGAV Centre on a courtesy visit to the Authority’s headquarters in Abuja. The delegation was accompanied by the reigning King and Queen of the Air Nigeria 2026.
Speaking during the meeting, Chairman of the NIGAV Centre and Chief Executive Officer of FCI Limited, Mr. Fortune Idu said the visit was part of efforts to deepen collaboration with the NCAA in advancing aviation safety and professionalism across the industry.
He unveiled two key initiatives, the Cabin Club and the “Not On My Flight” campaign, which are designed to promote aviation safety awareness, discourage unruly passenger behaviour, and strengthen professionalism among cabin crew.
The Queen of the Air Nigeria 2026, Blossom Ubani of Ibom Air, said she would leverage social media platforms to educate passengers on aviation safety, travel etiquette, and responsible conduct onboard aircraft.
Also speaking, the King of the Air Nigeria 2026, Adebote Adeyemi of Aero Contractors, called for greater attention to inclusive air travel by improving awareness and accessibility for children with special needs.
Responding, Capt. Najomo commended the NIGAV Centre for championing initiatives that complement the NCAA’s safety mandate, stressing that collaboration among regulators, operators, and other stakeholders remains critical to sustaining Nigeria’s impressive aviation safety record.
He assured the delegation of the Authority’s full support for programmes that promote safety consciousness, professionalism, and enhanced passenger experience.
The meeting ended with both parties expressing their commitment to strengthening stakeholder engagement and expanding public awareness campaigns aimed at fostering a stronger safety culture within Nigeria’s aviation sector.
