Preparations for First-Ever Nigeria International Airshow in top Gear

- Keyamo Calls for Strategic Partnership With the Nigeria Customs

Minster of Aviation and Aerospace Development. Festus Keyamo CON, FCIArb (UK),has announced that preparations are in top gear for the maiden edition of the Nigeria International Airshow (NIA), scheduled to hold from 2nd to 4th December, 2025, in Abuja. This was contained in a statement signed by Odutayo Oluseyi, Head, Press, and Public Relations.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, mni, at a meeting with the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, on Thursday, 13th November, 2025, in Abuja, Kana expressed the need for strategic partnership with the Nigeria Customs Service, to streamline importation procedures and facilitate duty waivers for the temporary importation of aircraft, equipment, and exhibition materials from participating countries.

He stated that the forthcoming Airshow marks a major milestone in Nigeria’s efforts to reposition its aviation and aerospace industry as a central hub in Africa. He noted that the theme of the event, “Advancing the Future of Aviation and Aerospace in Africa,” is aimed at fostering innovation, investment, and collaboration among stakeholders across the continent and beyond.

According to him, the Nigeria International Airshow will serve as a unique platform for global and regional players to engage, explore business opportunities, and exchange vital insights that will drive growth and competitiveness in the sector. The event will feature exhibitions and live demonstrations of state-of-the-art aircraft, aerospace technology, and related services from leading international companies.

Responding, the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun commended the Ministry and the organizers for their foresight and commitment towards hosting such a landmark event. He encouraged the Ministry to continue its engagement with the Nigeria Customs Service to ensure smooth clearance and waiver processes for all equipment and aircraft participating in the Airshow stating the initiative as a bold step towards showcasing Nigeria’s potential and leadership in the global aviation and aerospace industry.
