Residents of Gummi town in Zamfara State on Thursday applauded troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA as military personnel offloaded eight motorcycles recovered from bandits during a recent successful counter-ambush operation in the North West.
The motorcycles, transported on an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), were reportedly being conveyed to the Headquarters of the North West Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, following the operation in which security forces reportedly eliminated more than 100 terrorists.
Eyewitnesses said large numbers of residents gathered to witness the arrival of the recovered motorcycles, cheering and commending the troops for their resilience and sustained efforts in restoring peace and security across Zamfara State and the wider North West region.
The spontaneous show of appreciation reflected growing public confidence in the ongoing military operations, with many locals expressing gratitude to the troops for their sacrifices in confronting armed groups and recovering assets believed to have been used by the terrorists.
The gesture by the residents, who openly praised and thanked the soldiers, underscored the strengthening relationship between local communities and security forces, as Operation FANSAN YAMMA continues its intensified campaign against banditry and terrorism in the North West.
