The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, mnips, has called on Presidents-General of communities across the State to place the security and wellbeing of their respective communities at the forefront of their leadership responsibilities. This was contained in a statement signed by SP. Ikenga Tochukwu, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, Awka.
The statement reads: “The Commissioner made the call on 4th September 2026 while receiving the Association of Presidents-General of Communities in the State. He noted that the Presidents-General occupy strategic positions in their respective communities and therefore have a crucial role to play in supporting the Police and other security agencies in the fight against criminality.
“CP Nnanna urged the PGs to prioritise peace, security and development while fostering closer collaboration with the Police through the provision of timely and credible information that could assist in preventing and tackling crime.
“He emphasised that the security of the State is a collective responsibility, noting that effective partnership among security agencies, traditional institutions, community leadership and residents remains essential to containing criminal activities.
“The CP therefore appealed to all Presidents-General and other community stakeholders to remain vigilant, support lawful security initiatives and promptly report suspicious activities and persons to the Police.
“In his response, the President of the Association of Presidents-General of Communities, Chief Sir Vin Dike, appreciated the Commissioner of Police for granting the association an audience and pledged their continued cooperation, support and partnership with the Police Command.
“Chief Dike further assured that, as critical stakeholders in the State, the Presidents-General would use their respective positions to discourage actions and activities capable of undermining peace and security across Anambra State.
“The Command reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening community policing and strategic partnerships with community leaders and other stakeholders towards sustaining peace and security across Anambra State, ” it also added.
