Troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, rescued 12 civilians during separate operations against terrorists in Kaura Namoda and Tsafe Local Government Areas of Zamfara State on 7 September 2026.This was contained in a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
In the first incident, troops responded to a distress call following the infiltration of terrorists into a residence at Tsohon Tasha, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area. Troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abandon six abducted civilians and flee across a nearby river. The rescued victims were subsequently evacuated and reunited with their families.
In a separate incident, troops, while conducting close monitoring of activities along the Main Supply Route in Tsafe Local Government Area, observed terrorists attempting to intercept a Sharon vehicle at Kwanoni Village. Troops swiftly mobilised to the location, and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abort their attempt and withdraw into the adjoining bush. Subsequently, 6 civilians were rescued.
The successful operations further demonstrate the unwavering commitment of troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to secure lives and property of the citizenry while disrupting their activities and deny them freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area. Operation FANSAN YAMMA urges the general public to continue to support security agencies with relevant information to enable the Theatre eradicate terrorist elements within the Joint Operations Area.
