The Federal Government of Nigeria has ondemned the attack on the residence of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador in Khartoum, Sudan, which occurred on September 22, 2024.
According to Amb. Eche Abu-Obe, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “The Federal Republic of Nigeria notes with concern… and calls on the authorities to take necessary measures to forestall reoccurrence and guarantee the safety and welfare of Embassy staff and their families.”
The Ministry’s statement expressed concern over the incident and urged the Sudanese authorities to take necessary measures to prevent future attacks and ensure the safety and well-being of embassy staff and their families.
The Nigerian government also appealed to the parties involved in the ongoing conflict in Sudan to seek a peaceful resolution, stating that “Nigeria also calls on the parties and other relevant stakeholders to seek an amicable and peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflict in order to return normalcy to the country.”
This statement reitrated Nigeria’s commitment to regional peace and stability, and its willingness to promote diplomatic solutions to conflicts. By condemning the attack and urging peaceful resolution, Nigeria is taking a proactive stance in promoting security and cooperation in the region.
