Nigeria is set to host the West Africa Economic Summit (WAES) 2025, a landmark event that promises to shape the region’s economic future.

The Summit, scheduled for June 20-21, 2025, at the Abuja International Conference Centre, will bring together leaders, policymakers, and business executives to discuss pressing economic challenges and opportunities.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar who made this known during a Media Conference in Abuja on Monday, highlighted the summit’s objectives, including establishing a harmonized trade policy framework, mobilizing resources for critical infrastructure, and promoting inclusive economic growth.

According to him, the Summit would feature a range of activities, including a Presidential Roundtable, CEO Forum, WAES Deal Room, and West Africa Business Expo.

The Minister informed that WAES 2025 is a significant step towards regional integration, aligning with the ECOWAS vision of a borderless and economically integrated West Africa.

Tuggar affirmed that the Summit provides a platform for business-to-government and business-to-business transactions, unlocking new opportunities for economic growth and development.

He mentioned that the event would showcase the region’s rich creative energy, ingenuity of youth, and investment-ready SMEs.

The Minister opined that with WAES 2025, Nigeria is poised to play a leading role in shaping West Africa’s economic future, demonstrating its commitment to regional integration and economic development.
