The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, mnips, after coordinating with heads of sister security agencies and other relevant stakeholders in the State, harmonised the operational plans of the various security agencies ahead of the forthcoming Local Government Elections scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, 29th August 2026. This was contained in a statement signed by SP. Ikenga Tochukwu, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, Awka.
The statement reads: “The coordinated security arrangements are aimed at ensuring adequate protection for residents, voters, electoral officials, political actors, and other stakeholders, as well as maintaining law and order before, during, and after the elections.
“To this end, the Anambra State Police Command announces *ease of movement across the State during the election period *, as all officers and men deployed for the elections have been directed to maintain the highest level of professionalism, neutrality, discipline and respect for the fundamental rights of all citizens.
“The CP further calls on all political parties, candidates, supporters, and other stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully and abide by the laws guiding the electoral process.
“The Command also urges residents to remain vigilant, avoid the spread of unverified information, and promptly report suspicious activities or persons to the nearest police station or through the Command’s established communication channels.
“The Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, remains fully prepared to safeguard lives and property and ensure that the Local Government Elections are conducted in a peaceful, orderly, and secure atmosphere, ” it also added.
