The Anambra State Police Command, following the recent investigation involving a 36-year-old woman in Onitsha and the rescue of four children, has reminded parents, particularly young mothers, that no financial difficulty, social pressure or promise of quick wealth should ever place a child at risk of exploitation or abuse.
This was contained in a statement signed by SP. Ikenga Tochukwu, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, Awka.
The statement reads in part: “The Command recognises that raising children, particularly as a young or single mother, can come with serious economic and social challenges. However, parents are encouraged to seek legitimate means of livelihood and appropriate support rather than accepting arrangements that expose their children to exploitation, sexual abuse, trafficking, pornography or other forms of harm.
“Reject the Get-Rich-Quick Syndrome
“Your child’s safety must never become the price of financial survival.
“You do not have to sacrifice your child’s safety to survive.
“Protect the child. Reject exploitation. Reject get-rich-quick schemes. Choose legitimate livelihood, ” it also added.
