The All Progressives Congress (APC) expresses delight at the purposeful leadership of the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, in the delivery of critical infrastructure in the state. This was contained in a statement signed by Felix Morka, CON, National Publicity Secretary, All Progressives Congress (APC).

The statement reads: “Yesterday, Monday, January 19, 2026, the Governor performed the ground-breaking ceremony of the Uromi-Junction Flyover at Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area. The project was awarded to Julius Berger in the sum of N59.7 Billion with an expected delivery timeline of 14 months.

“By this project, Governor Oborevwori fulfilled a longstanding yearning of the good people of Agbor and Ika Nation for government’s intervention to alleviate what had become a dangerous interchange, notorious for ghastly motor accidents that has claimed countless lives over many years.

“Although the people of Agbor are the immediate beneficiaries of this massive and life-saving development intervention, the flyover inures to the benefit of all Nigerians as it stands at a crucial intersection of major connector roads to the East, West, North and South-South of Nigeria. Not only will the flyover boost economic activity in the area, but it will also ease travel, decongest persistent traffic gridlock, drastically improve security, and promote the overall wellbeing of travellers and residents alike.

“The Agbor ceremony came barely one week after the Governor performed another ground-breaking ceremony of the N39.3 Billion Otovwodo Junction Flyover in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area. Other Flyovers at PTI Junction, DSC Roundabout, Enerhen Junction make it five Flyovers that are now under construction across Delta state as part of the Governor’s determined effort to expand critical urban infrastructure and improve the quality of lives of the people of Delta state.

“Beyond infrastructure, the MORE – Meaningful development, Opportunities for all, Realistic reforms and Enhanced peace and security – Agenda of the Oborevwori-administration continues to deliver other people-centric benefits to urban and rural Deltans, from clearing backlogs of pensions and gratuities to investments in human capital development to payment of monthly stipends to 10,000 widows, to collaboration with Bank of Industry to recapitalize micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The Governor’s development footprint also extends to vastly improved funding for tertiary educational institutions and acquisition of advanced imaging and diagnostic equipment for hospitals in the state.

“On his part, the Governor is very public about his commitment to the achievement of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu-administration and attributes the improved financial capacity of the state to deliver dividends of democracy directly to the success of President’s Tinubu’s economic reforms that is steadily growing the economy and expanding federal revenue allocations to sub-national governments at levels never before seen in our country’s history.

“In April 2025, Governor Oborevwori blazed the trail when he led the entire structure of the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state into our great Party, a move that has inspired several other former opposition Governors to join our Party in support of President Tinubu’s bold, unprecedented and transformative economic reforms that have brought our country closer to a new epoch of economic boom and lasting prosperity.

“The groundbreaking ceremony that set Agbor community agog in celebration was attended by dignitaries from within and outside Agbor, including the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme; the immediate past Governor of Delta State and South-South Coordinator of Renewed Hope Initiative, His Excellency, Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa; the Dein of Agbor, His Royal Majesty, Benjamin Ikechukwu, Keagborekuzi 1, the member representing Ika Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Victor Nwokolo; the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Barr. Felix Morka, CON; the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu; the Chairman Governing Board, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Barr. Chiedu Ebie; Executive Director, Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria (REAN), Hon. Engr. Marilyn Okowa-Daramola, and other senior government officials and eminent leaders, with the Executive Chairman of Ika South Local Government Area, Hon. Jerry Ehiwarior, as the event’s Chief Host.

“We applaud the Governor for the impactful deployment of state resources in effective alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President, and urge him to sustain his commitment to uplifting the living conditions and common good of all Deltans,” it also added.
