The Anambra State Chapter of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) today 7th 2026 received Mrs Esther Chinyere Onyekesi, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Anambra State, as a very senior ambassador and strategic partner in the campaign against cultism, substance abuse, bullying, cybercrime and other social vices affecting young people. This was contained in a statement signed by SP. Ikenga Tochukwu, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, Awka.
The statement reads: “The nomination as very senior Ambassador of the Group formed part of the Command’s ongoing efforts to strengthen strategic partnerships with critical stakeholders, with a focus on deepening collaboration between the Police and the Ministry of Women Affairs to promote safer communities and protect children, teenagers, and other vulnerable members of society.
“The POCACOV team led by Assistant Superintendent of Police ASP Francisca Egbunike highlighted the importance of the Ministry’s role in family and community development, particularly in the areas of advocacy, counselling, youth empowerment, protection of vulnerable persons and early intervention against behaviours capable of exposing young people to criminality and other harmful influences.
“The Honourable Commissioner, while appreciating the initiative, expressed the Ministry’s readiness to sustain and strengthen its partnership with the Nigeria Police Force through POCACOV. She reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting programmes aimed at preventing cultism, substance abuse, bullying, cybercrime and other social vices among teenagers and youths.
“The Anambra State Police Command, through POCACOV, therefore calls on parents, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community leaders, schools, youth organisations, civil society groups and other stakeholders to join hands with the Police in building a safer and more responsible society, ” it also added.
