Delta Train Incident: NEMA Deploys Emergency Response Team

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has deployed its Emergency Response Team (ERT) following an incident involving a passenger train travelling from Itakpe to Warri along the Agbor axis of Delta State on Monday, June 8, 2026.

According to a statement issued on June 8, 2026, the Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar activated the Agency’s emergency response mechanism immediately after receiving an alert on the incident.

She subsequently ordered the immediate deployment of an Emergency Response Team to the scene to support ongoing rescue and safety operations.

The statement added that the Director General has been in contact with the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) and assured him of NEMA’s full support in managing the situation.

NEMA further disclosed that its response team is working in collaboration with the NRC, security agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the safety of passengers and provide necessary assistance where required.

The Agency reiterated its commitment to coordinated emergency management and rapid response in addressing incidents across the country.
