The Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction Dr Bernard M. Doro has pointed out that, he took a reformist method as soon as he was appointed Minister of the Federal Republic to enable a positive difference that can touch the lives of the more vulnerable people in the society. This was contained in a statement signed by Janet McDickson Noah, Director, Information, and Public Relations.
The Honourable Minister made this known when the Registrar/ Chief Executive Officer, Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, Pharmacist Ibrahim Baba Shehu Ahmed FPSN and his entourage paid him a courtesy visit in his office. 31-07-2026.
Dr. Doro congratulated the team and the Pharmaceutical Society for the great work they are doing in Nigeria adding that, their resilience has contributed in regulating the activities of quack persons, urging that, they should continue with the good work for a healthy society.
He reiterated that, the flagship programme the ministry is undertaking One Humanitarian One Poverty Reduction System (OHOPRS) has continued to provide an Integrated Framework that aligns humanitarian response, social protection and poverty reduction initiatives under a single national coordination mechanism.
He emphasized that, OHOPRS seeks to eliminate fragmentation, duplication, and isolated interventions across the Humanitarian and social protection programs not only for immediate relief but as partways to resilient, economic empowerment and long term self sufficiency.
The Honourable Minister hoped to partner with the Council.
Earlier, the Registrar said their coming was informed by the strategic work the minister is doing and came to congratulate him on his appointment and to encourage him. Adding that, they are behind him to support him.
He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR For picking out of their circle to give an appointment. Pointing out that, Dr. Doro, who is a global being, will bring his wealth of experience to the service and transform the sector as he has started doing.
Pharmacist Ibrahim informed the minister that the council has the licence to regulate the activities of the industry. Adding that, Nigeria follows international best practices to operate. He said they have offices in the 36 states of the Federation plus FCT, with the headquarter in Abuja and Lagos as a special zone.
He pointed out that they relate with other organisations to achieve greater results in achieving a healthy society.
He requested that the council would partner with the ministry where it is applicable.
