The FCT Police Command strongly condemns the recent act of jungle justice in which an angry mob assaulted a young lady suspected to have stolen a two-year-old child in the Gwagwalada area of the Federal Capital Territory. The incident occurred on 13th October 2025, and the victim, who was being severely beaten by the crowd, was promptly rescued by patrol officers from Tungan Maji Division to prevent further escalation. This was contained in a statement signed by SP Josephine Adeh, ANIPR, Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Police Command: For the Commissioner of Police FCT Command.

The statement reads: “The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Ajao S. Adewale, psc, mnips, warns residents that jungle justice is a criminal act and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He emphasized that taking the law into one’s hands is unlawful and often leads to the punishment of innocent persons who may later be found blameless.

“The CP urged residents to always report suspected criminal acts to the nearest police station for proper investigation rather than resorting to mob action. Also, the Command has commenced a discreet investigation into the alleged child theft and will ensure that justice is served in accordance with the law.

“He further warned that the Police will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute anyone involved in mob attacks, noting that such actions undermine the rule of law and ongoing efforts to ensure peace and security in the FCT.

“Residents are advised to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, and to report any suspicious movements or criminal activities through the following emergency numbers:
📞 08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, 07057337653
or the Police Control Room at 09115629111.

“The Command reiterates that security is a shared responsibility and urges all residents to partner with the Police in maintaining a safe and lawful society,”it also added.
