The FCT Police Command has debunked a report published by Daily Trust Newspaper in its October 6, 2025 edition, under the headline “Kidnappers kill 2 wedding guests at FCT.” This was contained in a statement signed by SP Josephine Adeh, ANIPR, Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Police Command, Abuja.
The statement reads: “The Command wishes to clarify that the incident described in the report did not occur within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as suggested by the headline. Investigations and geographical verification reveal that the locations mentioned in the story, including Garam, Rafin-Azum, and Tafa Local Government Area, are communities situated in Niger State and not within the FCT.
“Furthermore, the Suleja Police Area Command cited in the report is also under the Niger State Police Command, not the FCT Command. It is, therefore, misleading to attribute the unfortunate incident to the FCT, as neither the location nor the police jurisdiction involved fall within the Federal Capital Territory.
“While the FCT Police Command sympathizes with those affected and acknowledges the proximity of these border communities to the nation’s capital, it is crucial that media reports maintain geographical accuracy to prevent public misunderstanding or unnecessary fear among Abuja residents.
“The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Ajao S. Adewale, psc, mnips, calls on residents to always remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities or persons through the Command’s emergency lines:
08032003913, 08061581938.
