The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has once again reaffirmed its core values of integrity, transparency, and professionalism with the successful handover of the sum of One Million, One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Naira (₦1,120,000.00) recovered from a fatal crash scene to the family of the deceased victim. This was contained in a statement signed by Osondu Ohaeri, fnipr, fcai, Deputy Corps Commander, Corps Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps Headquarters, Abuja.

The tragic crash occurred on 11 April 2026 at Idu Village along the Gegu–Abaji route, involving a Toyota Corolla (Reg. No. GWP418CV) and a Volkswagen Golf (Reg. No. RBC220DG). The driver of the Volkswagen Golf, Mallam Aliyu Mohammed Bala, sustained critical injuries and was later confirmed dead at the hospital despite efforts to save his life.

During the rescue operation carried out by the FRSC Zebra Team, the sum of ₦1,120,000 alongside other personal valuables were carefully recovered from the scene and duly documented in line with standard operational procedures.

In a solemn but dignified event held at the Command on 20 April 2026, the Corps officially handed over the recovered money to the family of the deceased. The elder brother of the late victim, Mr. Bala Yakubu, received the sum on behalf of the family, in the presence of credible witnesses including N. Yusuf and Aminu Mahmud Maku.

The handover was conducted by the Ag. Unit Commander, Chief Route Commander RC Ojonugwa E. Ejah, alongside other principal staff of the Command.

Expectedly, the Corps Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, while describing the gesture as another powerful testament to the Corps’ strong commitment to accountability and ethical conduct, extends the heartfelt condolences of the entire Management and Staff of the Corps to the family of the deceased and prays for the peaceful repose of his soul.
