The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, has felicitated Nigerian workers on the 2026 workers’ Day. This was contained in a statement signed by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation herself. It reads: “My Dear Civil Servants,
Happy Workers’ Day.
I express sincere appreciation to every officer across the Civil Service of the Federation for your dedication, resilience, and unwavering service to our nation.
“Every day, you sustain government operations and ensure that essential services reach Nigerians. Through policy design and implementation, administration, finance, education, healthcare, security coordination, infrastructure support, regulatory oversight, and citizen engagement, you remain central to national development.
“I recognise the demands of your work, the long hours, and the personal sacrifices involved. Your professionalism and commitment to duty are deeply valued and appreciated.
“A clear shift is underway across the Service. The increasing embrace of innovation, digitalisation, performance management, continuous learning, and reform implementation reflects a deliberate commitment by Civil Servants to modernise how we work and deliver results. This momentum is steadily transforming the Federal Civil Service into a more efficient, responsive, and citizen-centred institution.
“Special commendation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the unprecedented attention being given to the welfare of Civil Servants under the Renewed Hope Agenda, from the approval of the landmark Exit Benefit Scheme for retiring officers under the Contributory Pension Scheme to the operationalisation of the Employee Compensation Scheme for work-related injuries and losses.
“Mr. President has demonstrated a clear commitment to protecting the dignity, security, and future of Civil Servants through the approval of an upward review of allowances across board, including Duty Tour Allowances, Estacode, Book Allowance, and other entitlements, as well as the ₦10 billion Housing Loan Scheme for Civil Servants. These are practical demonstrations of a leadership that values and cares deeply about the workforce. These interventions have strengthened welfare, boosted morale, and significantly increased commitment, productivity, and service delivery across the Civil Service.
“As the government continues to invest in your welfare and development, I charge every Civil Servant to respond with seriousness, discipline, and results. This is not the time for complacency. It is the time to deliver. I expect greater professionalism, higher productivity, stronger accountability, and visible impact in all areas of service delivery. We must match the government’s investment with performance and integrity.
“The progress of our nation depends on a Civil Service that is competent, ethical, and effective. I therefore encourage all officers to remain diligent, accountable, and committed to service excellence.
“Let us deepen professionalism, strengthen collaboration, embrace innovation, and remain focused on building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
“To every Civil Servant across the country, thank you for your service and sacrifice.
You are valued.
You are appreciated.
And you remain essential to national progress.
Happy Workers’ Day once again.
God bless the Federal Civil Service
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” it also added.
