Troops of 17 Brigade, Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled a major livestock rustling operation and recovered a large number of stolen animals during a counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operation in Katsina State.
Sources informed SpyeTV News that the operation, conducted on 30 June 2026 in collaboration with the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, was launched following a distress call from residents who reported the movement of armed terrorists herding stolen livestock around Kaddanya village in Charanchi Local Government Area.
Acting swiftly on credible intelligence, the joint security team laid an ambush at Sabari Reraya village, where they intercepted the fleeing terrorists.
According to military sources, the troops engaged the criminals with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon the rustled livestock and flee into the surrounding bushes.
Following the successful operation, the security forces secured the recovered animals while efforts continue to identify their rightful owners for immediate handover.
The military described the operation as another significant success in the ongoing counter-terrorism and anti-banditry campaign under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, reaffirming its commitment to denying criminal elements freedom of movement and protecting lives and livelihoods across the North-West.
Security authorities also commended the timely intelligence provided by residents and the effective collaboration with the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, noting that community support remains crucial to sustaining operational successes against terrorists and bandits in the region.
