The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has reiterated the critical role of continuous training and improved welfare in enhancing the operational effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Squadron Commanders’ Training Programme at the Police Mobile Force (PMF) Training College in Ende-Hills, Nasarawa State, the IGP underscored the need for sustained capacity building as part of efforts to strengthen leadership within the Force.
During the visit on April 22, 2026, the police chief inspected key training facilities, including the simulation ground and shooting range, where he actively participated in tactical drills—highlighting the importance of scenario-based training in modern policing.
Addressing cadets of the Nigeria Police Academy undergoing training at the College, the IGP charged them to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to excellence. He stressed that resilience, professionalism, and respect for human rights are fundamental to effective policing and long-term career success.
At the graduation ceremony, Disu commended the Squadron Commanders for successfully completing the rigorous training programme, urging them to deploy the knowledge acquired to improve leadership, operational discipline, and tactical efficiency in their respective units.
He reaffirmed that the Police Mobile Force remains a vital tactical arm of the Nigeria Police Force and must continue to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and responsiveness.
The IGP also restated his commitment to officer welfare, assuring that ongoing investments in training, modern equipment, and support systems will be sustained to better position the Force in addressing evolving security challenges across the country.
A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, stated that the event reinforces the Force’s broader strategy of combining capacity development with welfare improvements to build a more effective and responsive policing system.
