The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the official locations for its nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise scheduled to resume on August 18, 2025.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, the Commission confirmed that the exercise will be conducted across 811 centres nationwide, including the 774 Local Government Areas and the 37 State and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) offices.
INEC disclosed that online pre-registration will begin on August 18, while in-person registration will commence on August 25, 2025.
Both processes will run concurrently until August 30, 2026, from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, excluding public holidays.
A CVR Live Locator portal will be launched a day before the exercise to help citizens locate the nearest registration centre.
This was contained in a statement signed by Sam Olumekun, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee which noted that the Commission has also uploaded a comprehensive 38-page document detailing the addresses of all 811 registration centres.
Additionally, dedicated Help Desk telephone lines have been provided for each state to assist Nigerians with further inquiries.
Olumekun noted that the procedures for both the online and in-person registration remain unchanged from the last exercise held in 2022.
To ensure a seamless experience, the Commission plans to release instructional video clips and detailed guides next week via its official channels.
On political party registration, INEC revealed that it has received eight additional letters of intent from associations aspiring to become political parties, bringing the total number of requests to 151.
These submissions include proposed names, acronyms, logos, physical addresses, and details of interim leaderships, now available on INEC’s website for public scrutiny.
The Commission also confirmed that it has created a portal for party registration and has begun shortlisting associations that meet the necessary legal requirements. Final decisions and further announcements will be made after the 16 scheduled bye-elections in 12 states on August 16, 2025. INEC reiterated its commitment to transparency and pledged to keep citizens regularly informed about its activities.
