The Nigeria Police Force has announced a high level of compliance with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive ordering the withdrawal of police personnel from VIP escort and guard duties nationwide.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, a special enforcement team set up by the Force Headquarters conducted an extensive monitoring operation across Lagos State on 6 December 2025, beginning at about 10:00 a.m. The team inspected key locations, including the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, the Domestic Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, and several other strategic spots within the state.

The assessment revealed “satisfactory and commendable” compliance, with no incident of unauthorized deployment of officers for VIP escort duties recorded during the exercise. Consequently, no arrests were made.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, reaffirmed the Force’s dedication to fully implementing the presidential directive. He emphasized that the withdrawal of personnel from private escort assignments will enable the redeployment of officers to core policing functions that strengthen public safety, crime prevention, and the protection of lives and property.

The Nigeria Police Force assured citizens that enforcement of the directive will continue across the country without bias, urging the public to support ongoing efforts toward a more professional, efficient, and people-centered policing system.
