Middle East Crisis: Nigeria to evacuate stranded citizens from Israel, Iran

As the hostilities between the State of Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran heighten, the Government of Nigeria has once again called for immediate cessation of hostilities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs made the call on Tuesday in a statement by its spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa.

While making plans to evacuate stranded citizens, Nigeria called urges all parties involved to embrace dialogue, respect international humanitarian law, and prioritize the protection of civilians.

“In the same vein, the Government of Nigeria reiterates its call for the immediate cessation of hostilities and urges all parties involved to embrace dialogue, respect international humanitarian law, and prioritize the protection of civilians.

“Nigeria stands firm in its support for the peaceful resolution of conflicts and reaffirms its longstanding commitment to regional and global peace and stability”, the statement read.

Israel and Iran have been trading strikes on a sixth day of conflict, with civilians in flashpoint areas facing waves of attacks.

According to CNN, in Iran, at least 224 people have been killed since hostilities began. In Israel, 24 people have been killed.
