The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has expressed concern over the crash of a Nigeria Air Force aircraft with tail number NGR931 at Igbokoda, Ondo State.
The aircraft reportedly had about 32 persons on board.
The NCAA, in a statement signed by its Director-General, Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, expressed sadness over the incident and extended its thoughts and prayers to the personnel of the Nigerian Air Force, occupants of the aircraft, their families and others affected by the incident.
The Authority noted that military aviation operations were outside its regulatory oversight and operational mandate.
It, however, said it remained committed to supporting the national response to the incident and was ready to provide technical expertise and assistance required for the ongoing search and rescue operations.
According to the NCAA, it was closely monitoring developments and would continue to cooperate with relevant authorities and agencies in line with established national emergency response protocols.
The Authority expressed solidarity with the Nigerian Air Force and all those affected, while hoping for a positive outcome and the safe and successful rescue of everyone involved.
