The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar has received the Executive Secretary of the Women Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (WCCIMA), Mrs. Samirah Saleh-Jimeta, during a courtesy visit to the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
The meeting focused on exploring areas of collaboration between both organisations, particularly in supporting women entrepreneurs through increased patronage of their products and services, as well as training women on basic disaster management and preparedness.
Speaking during the visit, the Executive Secretary of WCCIMA, Mrs. Samirah Saleh-Jimeta expressed the organisation’s readiness to partner with NEMA on initiatives aimed at empowering women and strengthening community resilience through disaster awareness and capacity-building programmes.
She noted that equipping women with practical knowledge on emergency preparedness would contribute significantly to reducing vulnerabilities within communities.
In her response, the Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar appreciated the visit and welcomed the proposed collaboration, describing it as timely and impactful.
According to her, empowering women with basic disaster management knowledge remains essential to promoting safety, preparedness, and resilience at the grassroots level.
The engagement underscores the growing commitment of both organisations to fostering inclusive development and strengthening community-based approaches to disaster risk reduction across the country.
