The National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System (NEMSAS) has released emergency call centre numbers for Nigerians to access medical assistance during emergencies across the country.

The agency urged members of the public to dial 112 in emergencies, describing the number as a nationwide access point for first responders and emergency medical assistance.

According to the emergency contact information released by NEMSAS, the 112 emergency line is available in most states, while several states have additional dedicated emergency numbers for residents to request assistance.

States with additional emergency contact lines include Lagos, with 112 and 767; Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, with 112, 09157892931 and 09157892932; Rivers with 112, 09040222281, 09040222283 and 09040222285; and Kano with 112, 09019999920 and 09049999914.

In Osun State, residents can contact emergency services through 112, 08111110532 and 08111110561, while Ogun has 112 and 08112000033. Oyo residents can use 112 and 615, while Plateau has 112 and 09136982496.

The list also provides dedicated emergency numbers for states including Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Gombe, Kaduna, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Ondo, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara, in addition to the national 112 line.

However, NEMSAS indicated that emergency call centre services in Benue and Imo states are not operational at the moment.

The agency’s emergency information campaign is aimed at ensuring that members of the public know whom to contact during accidents, medical crises and other situations requiring urgent intervention.

NEMSAS also emphasised the availability of emergency response services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with the system designed to provide quick response and professional medical care.

The agency advised Nigerians to save the relevant emergency numbers for their states, noting that access to the right emergency contact can be crucial in saving lives.

“In an emergency, dial 112,” NEMSAS stated in its public awareness message, urging Nigerians to keep the number readily available.

The emergency service is part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s emergency medical response system by linking members of the public with first responders and ambulance services when urgent medical assistance is required.
