The Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Ltd has adopted the Federal Government’s Performance Management System (PMS) as part of efforts to improve efficiency, strengthen accountability, and enhance service delivery across the organisation.
The initiative, which features intensive staff training, aligns with the vision of the Presidency and the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation to entrench a strong work ethic and service-oriented culture within the public sector.
Speaking at the opening of the three-day training programme, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NIGCOMSAT, Mrs Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, was represented by the Executive Director, Technical Services, Engr. Abiodun Attah described the adoption of PMS as timely and critical to achieving national performance objectives.
She noted that embracing the system would help reposition the organisation in line with best practices in public service management.
In her remarks, the General Manager, Human Resources Management, Mrs Chinwe Udogu, urged staff to fully commit to the programme, stressing that it is key to driving institutional transformation and achieving NIGCOMSAT’s strategic goals.
The training consultant, Mrs Njoku Chioma, said the programme is expected to promote culture change, automate work processes, and strengthen overall organisational performance.
Jointly organised by the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation and NIGCOMSAT Management, the training covers themes such as institutional performance under the FCSSI25 framework, service culture and workplace attitude, PMS implementation in NIGCOMSAT, and the application of artificial intelligence tools to enhance public sector performance.
The programme cuts across all directorates and staff cadres, underscoring NIGCOMSAT’s commitment to aligning its operations with national development priorities.
