Nigeria and Israel have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation across security, counter-terrorism, economic development, and technology during a high-level political dialogue in Abuja.

The talks were led by Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and Israel’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency, Sharren Miriam Haskel-Harpaz.

Officials described the meeting as cordial, productive, and reflective of the “enduring and strategic partnership” between the two nations.

During the technical session, co-chaired by Ambassador Janet Olisa of Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador Sharon Bar-Li, Head of Africa Division at Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both countries discussed pressing global and regional issues, particularly security and counter-terrorism.

They agreed on the need for greater intelligence sharing, joint training, and cooperation to combat terrorism financing.

Beyond security, the dialogue also explored collaboration in technology, innovation for border management, capacity building, culture, tourism, agriculture, and immigration matters.

Both countries are committed to exchange study tours and maintain regular consultations to advance shared interests.

Officials from both sides stressed that strengthening multilateral cooperation and mutual solidarity on global issues will remain central to the Nigeria-Israel relationship.
