The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has extended its Special Passport Intervention Exercise in the United Kingdom to October 30, 2026, following increased demand and high turnout from Nigerians seeking passport services.

The extension, which will run from October 6 to 30, 2026, was approved following a directive by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, said in a public statement issued on Friday.

The NIS urged Nigerian communities across the UK to take advantage of the extension to renew their passports and attend the exercise at the designated centres.

The intervention centres are located at 56-57 Fleet Street, Temple, London EC4Y 1JU; Nigerian House, 23 Platt Lane, Manchester M14 5NE; and Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, Aberdeen, AB24 4NR.

The venue for the Cardiff centre is yet to be announced. The Service advised applicants to monitor the Nigeria High Commission’s website and official NIS communication channels for details.

Applicants are required to book appointments through the designated online platform or the Nigeria High Commission’s website and adhere strictly to their scheduled dates and times to ensure an orderly process and minimise delays.

The Service also said the Contactless Passport Application System remains operational, encouraging eligible Nigerians to use the platform to renew their passports without visiting a Nigerian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate.

For the physical intervention exercise, applicants are required to present a completed application form, payment slip as proof of payment, intervention appointment printout, a self-addressed return envelope and, for renewal applications, their current passport.

The NIS stressed that cash payments would not be accepted at the intervention venues.

For enquiries and assistance, applicants can contact passport.london@immigration.gov.ng or send WhatsApp messages only to +234 916 087 8000.

The Service said the extension was part of its efforts to provide efficient, transparent and responsive passport services to Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora.
