NITDA Invites Public Feedback on New IT Project Guidelines

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has opened a public review period for a series of draft documents related to IT project guidelines and regulatory frameworks.

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has opened a public review period for a series of draft documents related to IT project guidelines and regulatory frameworks.

The Director of Communications and Media Relations, NITDA, Mrs Hadiza Umar, stated that the initiative is part of NITDA’s commitment to transparent and collaborative rulemaking within Nigeria’s IT sector.

”The draft guidelines now available for public input include the following:”Guidelines for Licensing IT Projects Clearance Compliance Assurance Firms 2024

“Regulatory Guidelines for Electronic Invoicing in Nigeria

“Guidelines for Software Development

“Guidelines for Software Testing

“These guidelines are intended to professionalize the clearance of IT projects within Federal Public Institutions, ensuring that they meet established standards and government regulations,” she stated,

Umar added that the guidelines will enhance the conceptualization, design, and compliance monitoring of IT initiatives within federal institutions.

According to her, the Regulatory Guidelines for Electronic Invoicing aim to strengthen e-governance through technological solutions, supporting Nigeria’s fiscal development.

“These guidelines will “promote transparency, deepen automation, and improve tax compliance,” setting Nigeria on a path toward standardized digital commerce.”

Meanwhile, Umar noted that the Guidelines for Software Development establish baseline requirements for government-used software, focusing on quality, security, and operational effectiveness.

“These guidelines will enhance government service efficiency and protect institutions from operational risks.

“Public input is essential to NITDA’s regulatory process. By considering diverse perspectives, NITDA can ensure these guidelines best serve the needs of the IT industry and foster a thriving digital economy in Nigeria.

“Stakeholders can access the draft guidelines for review at https://nitda.gov.ng/draft-regulatory-instruments/ and are encouraged to submit feedback to regulations@nitda.gov.ng by 26th November 2024,” said Umar.
