OHCSF Reports Fire Outbreak at Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase II, Abuja

The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has informed the public of a fire incident that occurred this morning, Monday, 9th March 2026, at the Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase II, Abuja. This was contained in a statement signed by Mrs. Eno Olotu, FCAI, mnipr, Director, Information and Public Relations.

According to the statement, the outbreak, which was detected in the early hours, affected the 4th Floor of Block C, housing the National Board for Technology Incubation. Upon discovery, the building’s emergency protocols were immediately activated. Personnel of the Federal Fire Service and other relevant emergency response agencies were swiftly mobilised to the scene. Their professional and timely intervention successfully contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to other sections of the building.

The statement also reads: “The Office wishes to confirm that no casualties were recorded as a result of the incident, and all staff members on the affected floor were safely evacuated without injury. The safety and well-being of all civil servants and visitors remain our foremost priority.
 
“The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, while conducting  an on-the-spot assessment of the scene, commended the Federal Fire Service and all emergency responders for their promptness and efficiency in containing the situation. She assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the immediate cause of the fire to avert future occurrence and also assess the structural integrity of the building, Following the containment of the fire, necessary precautionary measures have been implemented to secure the affected area. A comprehensive assessment is currently underway to ascertain the extent of the damage to the property, ” it also added.
