Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA on Friday, 10 July 2026, successfully thwarted a kidnap attempt by suspected terrorists in Surimi, Danko-wasagu LGA of Kebbi State,a border town between Kebbi and in Sokoto States, rescuing four kidnapped victims without recording any casualties among the troops.

The operation followed credible intelligence, indicating that armed terrorists were carrying out kidnapping activities in the area. Acting promptly on the information, troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Unashi swiftly mobilised to the general area to deny the terrorists freedom of action.

On arrival, the troops made contact with the terrorists and engaged them with superior firepower. Overwhelmed by the troops’ response, the terrorists abandoned the four kidnapped victims and fled into the surrounding bush.

The rescued victims were subsequently reunited with their families.

Military authorities confirmed that no casualties were recorded among Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops during the operation, describing the mission as another demonstration of the troops’ commitment to protecting lives and combating insecurity across the North-West.
