Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised several terrorists and recovered weapons, motorcycles and rustled livestock during a fierce engagement in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The operation followed credible intelligence indicating that suspected terrorists were attempting to move rustled livestock through the Maikujera general area of Rabah LGA.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the troops deployed to intercept the terrorists. However, while advancing towards the suspected location, the troops encountered an attempted ambush along the route.
Demonstrating high tactical readiness and superior firepower, the troops immediately engaged the terrorists, successfully breaking through the ambush. Several terrorists were neutralised during the encounter, while others fled into the surrounding bush.
Subsequent exploitation of the area led to the recovery of AK-47 rifles, motorcycles used by the terrorists and the rustled livestock.
The general security situation in Rabah and the Maikujera area is presently calm and stable, with troops remaining firmly deployed to sustain security gains.
Troops are also maintaining high morale and conducting routine patrols and other security operations to ensure the continued safety and protection of residents in the affected communities.
