The Managing Director of a top waste Management Company, Zoomlion Nigeria, Mrs. Habiba Abubakar, has restated the determination of Zoomlion Nigeria, a top waste management company that revolutionized the way waste is managed in Nigeria to take waste management in Nigeria to the next level. Mrs. Habiba Abubakar, a Nigerian, spoke to journalists on the sideline of the 2025 celebration of World Environment Day in Abuja.
According to Habiba, Zoomlion Nigeria, with headquarters in Ghana, has done fantastically very well with waste management in Ghana, and her company is determined in replicating the same in Nigeria and even going to do more.
Her words: “We are providing an African solution for Africans by Africans. We have delivered world-class waste management solutions powered by advanced modern technology. We have material recovery facilities, and we have transfer loading station. We are recycling, we have all that in Ghana. Like you heard what the Minister of Environment said, he was in Ghana last week, and he saw it live. So, we are bringing it home, I am a Nigerian, representing Nigeria for this project. ”
She further stated: “It is strictly for big and local content. It is driven by Nigerians, largely Nigerian, but we are bringing this same technology back home to Nigeria. So, let’s stay and watch this partnership unfold. We will change the name, and we will change the game in Nigeria and waste management as it is known abroad in Europe, we will bring it home to Nigeria. ”
On the question of any specific programme her company has for women and the youths in terms of waste recycling. Habiba noted: “We have some jobs specifically for women, we are big on gender inclusion. You saw my colleagues who came from Ghana. All are heads of different departments and sectors in Ghana. We will replicate this and even do more here. We are very big on women empowerment. Like I said, I am the managing director of Zoomlion Nigeria and I’m a woman. You can only imagine what I am going to replicate across the chain, so we are here in full support of women, full backing of women, and to advance gender inclusion. So, we will be supporting women.
