President Bola Tinubu has appointed new leaders to take charge of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

Engr. Abdullahi Garba Ramat was nominated by Tinubu as the new chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

President Tinubu has also appointed Mr. Abubakar Yusuf, as Commissioner for Consumer Affairs, and Dr. Fouad Olayinka Animashun appointed for the role of Commissioner for Finance and Management Services.

Engr. Ramat, who is 39 years old, has a background in electrical engineering and holds a doctorate in Strategic Management.

His appointment, along with those of the two commissioners, will need the approval of the Senate before they become official.

To prevent a gap in leadership at NERC while awaiting Senate confirmation, President Tinubu has instructed Engr. Ramat to begin work in an acting capacity.

The President urged the nominees to apply their knowledge and experience in pushing forward the government’s power sector goals.
