In line with ongoing efforts to bolster security, safety, and professional policing in Anambra State, the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, fwc mnips PhD, has underscored the importance of rigorous training and operational readiness among newly trained officers before their deployment for service within the Command. This was contained in a statement signed by SP. Ikenga Tochukwu, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command.

The Commissioner made this known today, 25th February 2026, while addressing officers who were formally handed over for combat and armed drills training at the Police College Oji River. He emphasised that effective policing requires not only numerical strength but also discipline, tactical competence, emotional intelligence, and respect for the rule of law.

CP Orutugu charged the constables to take their training serious, noting that the evolving security landscape demands officers who are physically fit, mentally alert, professionally grounded, and guided by the principles of accountability and human rights. He stressed that combat and armed drills training remain critical components in preparing officers to respond decisively and lawfully to emerging threats.

He further reassured residents of Anambra State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to sustaining safety across communities, stressing that the deployment of well-trained personnel will strengthen ongoing operations against violent crimes, kidnapping, cultism, and other forms of criminality.

The CP also expressed appreciation to His Excellency, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, Governor of Anambra State, for his continued support toward security initiatives. He reiterated that the training aligns with the broader vision of the Nigeria Police Force to enhance capacity building, professionalism, and operational effectiveness.

This development marks another strategic step in reinforcing the Command’s manpower and sustaining proactive policing efforts to protect lives and property across Anambra State.
