Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have ambushed members of the Lakurawa Terrorist Group who were reportedly moving towards Ugwan Hassan Village in Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi State to carry out an attack.

The operation followed credible intelligence on the movement of the terrorists, prompting troops to swiftly mobilise and establish a tactical ambush at a known crossing point near the village.

According to a military statement, the troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower when they made contact, forcing the militants to abandon their mission and retreat in disarray.

During an exploitation of the encounter area, the troops recovered two motorcycles believed to have been used by the terrorists for movement and logistics, as well as mobile phones and T&T communication radios.

Also recovered was a Nigerien identity card belonging to one of the fleeing terrorists, identified as being from the Tilbiri Region of the neighbouring Republic of Niger.

The military said troops are maintaining an aggressive presence in the area through sustained patrols while pursuing the fleeing terrorists.

The operation, it said, is aimed at preventing further attacks and ensuring the safety and security of residents in Dandi and surrounding communities.
