The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has congratulated Cheikh Niang on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Senegal.
The new Foreign Minister, until his appointment, was the Permanent Representative of Senegal to the United Nations.
Amb. Tuggar, in a statement by the Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa on Tuesday, said Nigeria looks forward to further the diplomatic relations with Senegal.
The statement reads in parts; “The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, conveys his heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, Cheikh Niang, on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Senegal.
“As a career diplomat, Amb. Cheikh Niang is expected to bring his wealth of experience, having held prestigious positions such as Ambassador to Japan, the United States, South Africa, and Consul General in New York to bear on his new assignment.
“Nigeria looks forward to further strengthening our historic, strong, and vibrant relationship for the benefit of all our peoples.”
