The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has congratulated all the workers in the country on the occasion of the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, commending their resilience, patriotism, and unwavering contributions to Nigeria’s growth and development.

In a statement signed by Abimbola Tooki, his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, to mark the celebration, Professor Yilwatda paid glowing tribute to Nigerian workers across all sectors of the economy, noting that their sacrifices, diligence, and commitment remain the backbone of national progress. He particularly acknowledged the endurance and understanding demonstrated by workers in the face of current economic realities, describing their perseverance as a testament to the strength and character of the Nigerian people.

The APC National Chairman assured workers that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is deeply committed to promoting policies and programmes that prioritize the welfare, dignity, and prosperity of the Nigerian workforce.

He emphasized that the President remains a worker-friendly leader who understands the central role of labour in nation-building.

Professor Yilwatda further noted that the ongoing economic reforms introduced by the current administration are critical and inevitable steps toward repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth and long-term prosperity.

He explained that key policy measures, including the removal of fuel subsidy, unification of the foreign exchange system, increased investment in infrastructure, expansion of social intervention programmes, and a renewed focus on industrialization, are aimed at addressing longstanding structural challenges within the economy.

According to him, these reforms are designed to stimulate productivity, enhance economic stability, attract both local and foreign investments, and create more opportunities for employment and wealth creation.

While acknowledging that the transition may present short-term challenges, he assured that the government is implementing targeted interventions to cushion the effects and ensure that the gains of these reforms are broadly shared among Nigerians.

The APC Chairman reiterated that the sacrifices being made by workers today are not in vain, expressing confidence that the ongoing reforms will ultimately lead to a more prosperous, inclusive, and resilient economy that benefits all citizens.

He called on Nigerian workers to remain steadfast, hopeful, and united in their support for the nation’s development agenda, stressing that collective effort and shared commitment are essential to achieving the Nigeria of everyone’s aspiration.

Professor Yilwatda wished all Nigerian workers a happy and fulfilling Workers’ Day celebration, praying for continued strength, progress, and prosperity for them and their families.
