The National Commissioner/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji, has received the Federal Public Sector CEO eGovernment Award at the Nigeria eGovernment Awards 2026.
The award was presented to Dr Olatunji by the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, during the flagship ceremony of the Nigeria eGovernment Summit.
The NDPC was also honoured with the Data Governance Excellence Award at the event, which featured 17 competitive categories recognising outstanding achievements across the public and private sectors in innovation, leadership and impact on Nigeria’s digital transformation and eGovernment agenda.
In his goodwill message, Dr Olatunji commended the organisers for their consistency in promoting excellence and innovation within Nigeria’s digital ecosystem. He urged the award recipients to see the recognition as a call to greater responsibility and prepare for more work ahead.
The NDPC chief executive also encouraged stakeholders in the digital ecosystem to strengthen collaboration in developing and promoting useful innovations, while ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy obligations.
He stressed the importance of responsible data governance and privacy compliance in building a trustworthy digital economy capable of supporting Nigeria’s digital transformation.
Dr Olatunji also presented awards to winners in several categories during the ceremony.
